Design Guidelines

The following Guiding Principles provide the basis for the vision of Cardwell Ranch. Ultimately, each component should result in enriching both the character and quality of the Community.

Visibility

  • Relationships to open space, view corridors, pedestrian circulation, waterway and landscape features on and adjacent to the site

  • Views of the architecture from pedestrian and vehicular perspectives

  • Expressions of the building's functional organization

  • Energy conservation through architectural design

  • Expressions of the individual character of each business

  • Orientation of the buildings in relation to major streets and thoroughfares

  • The scale and character of surrounding developments , buildings, open space and view sheds

  • Maximize view opportunities to the Rimrocks (north) and the Beartooth Mountains (southwest) from roadways, open spaces, building entries and interior spaces

  • Acknowledgement and respect of the overall landscape


Functionality

  • Energy Conservation through architectural and landscape design

  • Minimizing conflicts among vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle flows

  • The mix of uses within the project should complement one another as well as the existing community


Design

  • Designs landscapes to create a natural appearance

  • Develop structures that incorporate creative design while being culturally relevant and fitting within the local community context

  • Exterior color palettes reflecting indigenous regional earth and complementary tones.
